The 24th Memorial Kert Crawl: Neil Armstrong

neil armstrong memorialWe lost a lot of famous people in the last few weeks: Sherman Hemsley (Mr. George Jefferson), Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile), Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys), but it was never in question who we would raise our glasses to on this memorial kert crawl, Neil Armstrong. With one small step for man, one hosszulepes (long step) for Neil Armstrong, we started the night off at the Lokal at Dob u. 18.  The former Mummus has lost some of its style since the change over. I really miss the former dimness and creatively lit oil drums. But, it did have a few pleasant local musicians entertaining us for the first two rounds before we moved on. At Koleves Kert (Kazinczy 35/Dob 26) a few of us had good tocsni/latkes (potato pancakes) for 450 huf. Someone's unwatched cute big dog then came over to beg the leftovers and entertained us for awhile. Grandma Bloom's were still the best latkes, and while Koleves' were good, I think Castro's at Madách Imre tér 3 are a bit better. Although we had ambitious plans to visit a few more in the evening, my last stop was Grandio (Nagydiofa u. 8). The small forest of trees in the courtyard is still impressive, as is the atmosphere.
