Hollosy-Saltzer Wedding

akos and noriA couple weeks ago my friends Akos and Nori got married at the Pestszentlorinci Maria Szeplotelen Szive Church tucked away in the 18th District in a small wooded area. Nora had such a long train that 4 kids had to help her with it all night. Nora, aren't there laws in Hungary about child labour? After the ceremony we went to the nearby Uj Tunderkert Etterem where the civil ceremony was held. The building was built in the 1890s and was owned by Albert Hofherr, royal counselor and famous industrialist of  “Kispest”. There was some very good lemonade and pogocsa at the tables. Inside, everyone received a small painted ceramic bell commemorating the special day. I did not want to get completely legless, so I was drinking hosszulepes. Even so, the glasses they brought me were huge. The vegetarians were served first, yippee! The surprising and thoughtful vegetarian food (for Hungary) included a big chunk of grilled herb tofu with chutney on top, and also some grilled goat cheese. I got some good feedback on my suit: "You look like a millionaire," and "you look like an American sugar daddy." The band was very good, singing classic international and Hungarian hits, and we danced until 3:30am.
