Concert Review: Keep Floyding

keep floydingLast night I attended a show, and I do mean SHOW. MuPa (The Hungarian Palace of the Arts) put on an awesome Pink Floyd show "Keep Floyding" commemorating the band's 2007 concert at Pompeii. The lighting, lasers, big eye video screen, everything was like the MTV videos. The band consisted of:

Gábor Goldschmidt - guitar, singing
Attila Tóth  - keyboards, singing
András Tóth - guitar
Bálint  Balázs - bass guitar, singing
Viktor Dobos - drums
Imre Haáz - saxophone
and backup singers  Zsuzsa Garda , Andrea Gayer and Edina Simon

The songs were from The Wall,  The Dark Side of the Moon,  Wish You Were Here, Live At Pompeii and Animals. They were all very good musicians and singers, though I think the bass guitarist had the best voice and least accent. I am a sucker for backup singers, and they were great. I actually had tears in my eyes, but I chalk that up to hormones and my mid-life crisis. People will think I am strange, but another very positive point for me was the seating. I was
keep floydingactually able to sit without having to stand because of some joker down front. My kind of rock concert!

I must also comment about the MuPa toilets that really freaked me out. One normally goes to a Pink Floyd concert drunk senseless or stoned, but I was neither and still thought I had been slipped a psychedelic drug. When I flushed the toilet and looked back to make sure everything went down, the toilet seat looked wonky, warped and turned sideways like a Dali clock. It made we question the nature of the universe. Check out this video

Unfortunately, the concert was a one-off, but with such a positive reception, hopefully they will play again next season.
