New Fair Trade World Shop Opens in Budapest
In the past 7 years there have been several attempts to open a Fair Trade "world shop." in Budapest with varying degrees of success. Now, the founder of the Fair Trade movement in Hungary and her oldest daughter are making a go of it on their own. The Vilag Bolt (World Shop) opened just a few weeks ago, and is conveniently located just across from the new Godor at Kiraly u. 8-10 in the Central Passage. The shop design is quite inventive, from the interesting coffee bean floor pattern to the recycled pallet furniture and display cases. There is even a comfortable children's corner and small environmental library. One can find Treehugger Dan's organic Fair Trade coffees, as well as several brands of organic Fair Trade chocolate, cacao, handicrafts, jewelry and textile products. Proprietors Gyorgyi and Gyorgyi have plans to hold workshops in the back area, and they also currently do organic Fair Trade catering for events. Open every day, including weekends. from 12-20.
