Grawa Trance Music from Morocco

When my Swiss friend Claudio suggested we go to hear some Grawa Trance Music from Morocco at the Godor Klub, I had extreme reservations. When I hear the phrase “trance music” I think of Ibiza and all that horrible techno music Grawa Trance Music from Moroccoassociated with it. The fact that the band started an hour late did nothing to alleviate my misgivings.  Generally, if someone is 15 minutes late and does not contact me to tell me, I leave. In this case, I was very, very happy I stayed. I wish I could find out something about the band, Wlad Imouk Iahwa, but 2 hours of internet search has only told me that they have played in Pecs as well. The band, made up of 5 men including a father and son, sang, danced, and played metal castanets and a kind of rectangular guitar. All twenty of Budapest’s Moroccan residents must have been there, and several jumped up and joined the Mr. Bo jangles-figure of the main dancer on stage. This old guy had all the moves. All I can say is, keep a look out for them the next time they are in town!
