Marco & Kati Play Treehugger Dan's
Last night I heard some of my customers talking and saying that I somehow always come up with new events at my shop. Thanks for the credit, but I really have very little to do with it. In fact, I do not think I have ever sought out anyone to perform there - they have always found me. Even the first performer 3 years ago, poet Sara Wingate Gray, contacted me on a tip from local writer Tom Bass while seated next to each other on a plane. The same was true for last night’s performers Kati Osztian (HU) and Marco Randria (FR). They came up to me after a Michael Kentish’s or Mookie Brando’s show a few weeks ago and asked if they could do a gig.<!-- pagebreak --> I admit, I was a bit skeptical at first because it was obvious Kati was very nervous and it would be their first live performance doing covers by people I had never heard of. I am so glad I said yes. If they were nervous, you would not have known it. They HIT IT on their first song “Stopping the Love” by KT Tunstall and I was left wondering where is all this voice coming from inside that young woman. Similarly, Marco’s guitar solo of John Butler’s “Ocean” at the end of the first set just blew me away. Their last song, the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” had people singing, clapping and stomping along with them. I think it also reflected the desires of the audience to see them again. Jerome Li Thiao Te from The Last Drops joined them on fiddle for their encore (catch the Last Drops at Treehugger Dan’s on March 18th!). Kati has been singing for 4 years and Marco, has been playing guitar since he was 12. Their Duo was set up in Budapest and they have been playing together for 1 year. Their music is mostly acoustic covers from different artists such as KT Unstall, K's Choice and many more.
