Treehugger Dan Now Has A Personal Trainer

When Simon Saunders, formerly director of Gold's Gym in Budapest, found out Kevin Jackson and I were doing the Balaton Swim on July 25th for charity, he offered his personal training services. I used to be a championship swimmer in my youth with the Hockomock Hammerheads (now Hay Lightning), but that was 30 years ago and my knees and back are feeling the years. Simon took me out to Margit Sziget today and showed me some exercises and stretches for both my back and ligaments. Simon came prepared with his trainer bag, full of all sorts of bits and bobs that clip on to his backpack, just like my "facilitator bag" when I go out and do environmental trainings. It was very informative and useful, and now I just need to make sure I do what I learned. I have somehow found the self-discipline to go to the gym 3 times a week and to swim 3km+ once a week, but the willpower to just stretch every day at home has so far evaded me. Simon gave me some good support today, so I hope I can put it to use properly - even if it takes a big "STRETCH!" sign on the door at home to see before I run out the door. If anyone is interested in hooking up with a good personal trainer, give Simon a buzz at saunders.simon@ymail.com / 0630 526 3177
