Michael Kentish Concert and B. City
On a frigid and snowy night, we all came out for the Michael Kentish gig last night at Treehugger Dan's. I think it is a testament to this singer-songwriter that the first row and a half of seats were taken up by other musicians that came out to see him. Members of Slamballet, The Random Chocolates, Poniklo Imre, Naked Woods, caracasUnderpop, Zoldhullam and Bring, as well as Kati Osztian and flamenco guitarist Nick Palmer were all in attendance. Besides some old self-penned favourites like "Pure," and nice covers, there were a couple surprises, like his cover of the Divine Comedy's very funny "The Happy Goth," and his own tune "Fires" which he had never before performed live. The encores included a great version of Van Morrison's "Moondance," and The Random Chocolate's "Casa Retro." I also got to meet up with a long-lost aquaintance who I had only met once 19 years ago at a mutual friend's birthday party. Oh, and here is a video Polyak Eszter and Pabloslam made on the night of his song, "Lost in Time."
Too early to head home just yet, Mike and I went to a smokey watering hole called B. City. The last time I was there I went home with a dog. Literally. http://www.treehugger.hu/node/375,http://www.treehugger.hu/node/378. For those curious about her fate, Kicsi as acclimated to country life, though she is still not quite comfortable with being kept in the great outdoors and not on a comfy sofa. Her new owners brought down an armchair for her to sleep on outside. They had wanted her to breed with another purebread Mudi, and she had three puppies in a litter last year, but unfortunately none survived. But they tell me she is very happy, and grinning all the time.
