Internations Budapest
I have been meaning to go to this event for several months, never understanding quite what it was or why it attracts such a following. Last night I finally checked it out. It helped that it was held at my favorite wine bar, Doblo (Dob u. 20, VII ker). Internations is usually held on the last Tuesday of the month, but seeing that February was a short month, Februrary's event was shunted to the first week in March. Entry was free, Albatros members got a 500 HUF off the purchase of a package of tasting tickets for 2800 HUF, and included the price of a meat or vegetarian sandwhich.
- Andrassy's Tokaji Furmint
- Kvassay Villányi Kékfrankos Rosé (2008, made it to the TOP100 list of Borigo).
- Lisicza Pécsi Portugueser
I was not fond of the Portugueser, but liked the Rose. But then I do not generally like Portugueser. Treehugger Dan's and Discover Budapest's Bitch Moan and Wine Society held a wine tasting for Kvassay last month at Doblo, and really liked his wines. The event was pretty packed, including lots of foreigners I had not met before. People obviously enjoyed themselves at this mixer. Live piano music accompanied the conversation, though the musician could have tried a smile on for size. I will likely attend the next one as well.
"InterNations appeals to the international community where they live: diplomats, members of international organisations (IGOs, NGOs), foreign correspondents, and expatriates of international companies as well as their accompanying family members who take care of organising everyday life and social activities. Moreover, InterNations also addresses local people who have strong connections to the international community (government representatives, journalists).
The community of InterNations has global reach with local grounding: The international network is represented by more than 200 local communities across all countries of the world. Thus, InterNations it not only a cross-boundary network of international people but also a place where members of all kinds of nationalities and cultures can get together and share opinions and information on local circumstances and particularities.
Membership within the network of InterNations is invitation-based only: in order to retain the quality of helpfulness, trust, and confidence within the community new members may join the network only when being invited by a current member. That way InterNations remains a trust-based network and interaction platform of like-minded individuals and a reliable and relevant source of information where data security and privacy are highest priority."
