An Evening of Harmonies and Finger-Picking
I am a sucker for finger-picking and lovely harmonies, and the concert last Thursday night had a lot of both. People just don't do enough finger-picking or harmonies these days. Stephen Ladek, Doug Jaymes, and Jeff and Holly Jordan, put on a fun show of acoustic rock, mostly their own stuff and a few covers. One surprising cover sticks in my mind, Aha's "Take on Me." Stephen hit the high notes, but I bet he's going to be walking funny for a week. And when he forgot the guitar chords, the audience sang them for him ;-) Hopefully we can have them back again soon.
Stephen Ladek is a Budapest-based singer/songwriter originally from Colorado, USA. His music is influenced by the Indigo Girls, Pink Floyd, Nickel Creek, Rush, David Wilcox, Lyle Lovett and many others with lyrics that are generally reflections of life-as-it-should-be. Stephen was the former lead singer and guitarist for The Flow. He has also performed as a back up guitarist and vocalist for Big Orange Pop. Doug Jaymes is a singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, where he was born and raised. His debut album, Get Over It was released in March 2010 and captures a blend of melodic rock and heart break acoustic songs. Doug will be playing an acoustic set of songs from the album and some new tunes that he's been writing on the road. Stephen and Doug have performed before as the LMNOP's in Washington, DC.
