Flamenco Pura: Vaca! Vaca!
Nick Palmer and Pozsgai Attila put on a fantastic Flamenco show last night at Treehugger Dan's. They always fill the place when they play, but we also had CEU's Spanish Club in attendance and we were filled to the rafters. Not only are both Nick and Attila very gifted players, they also play very well together, and clearly enjoy themselves on stage. Sometimes the back-and-forth and the interaction with the audience was as funny as the music was good. Clearly, these guys are top professional musicians, but also entertainers. The encore in particular brought the house down. Based on the Hungarian children's song "Boci, Boci Tarka," it got both Attila and audience member Petra up dancing.
Nick and Attila play flamenco puro. Having worked in music together for the last ten years under their flamenco band name Forasteros, the duo performed traditional and self-penned songs from the purist flamenco tradition. Attila sings in Spanish and Nick accompanies on guitar, though Attila is also a brilliant drummer and demonstrated his skills on the cajon, a Latin drum. Nick also performed a selection of flamenco guitar solos. Catch them again on December 16th at Treehugger Dan's.
