Playing Hookie
Just saw the newest Harry Potter over at Mom Park at the matinee. Its good on occassion to be able to one's own hours ;-) I think I need to do this more often, and the popcorn is better than the microwave stuff. Still early in the evening, Mike, Lydia and I popped into the smallie pub by the side of the Opera that I have walked by every day for at least three years and never went in. There was a very affectionate beagle to play with, that really made my day. Earlier in the day I ran into a mother whose child goes to a local international kindergarten. I had sold her a classic children's tale in the Autumn called "Dear Greenpeace" about a little girl that finds a whale in her backyard pool. She writes to Greenpeace to ask what to feed it. What follows is a correspondence, in little folded letters in the book between the girl and the disbelieving but polite and helpful Greenpeace. The customer really did not want to buy the book because her husband is quite against environmental activists and, as I read it, bleeding heart liberals. But, she decided to risk his displeasure on my recommendation. So she told me that her husband is very upset with me because one of his favorite books now is that damned "Dear Greenpeace." ;-). It has not stopped him from driving his SUV, but its a start. And lastly, I heard from a neighbor riding on the 4-6 tram that at a recent meet-and-great for the new US Ambassador to Hungary, she said some very kind words about Treehugger Dan's, including that it is a great place to meet people. With that in mind, come on out for the Jonathan Spinks concert this Friday, and the Jazz Apples next Wednesday!
