A Little Bit of French for Breakfast

croissantSeveral months ago a French travel guide author mentioned to me that there was a nice new French bakery in town and that she would take me there sometime. I got to check it out with her last Friday for breakfast. She was kind enough to call ahead and make sure we would arrive when the croissants were just coming out of the oven. La Petite Française - Arioso is located at the Deak ter end of Kiraly u. and shares space with Arioso. The French owners Olivia and Cedric are very welcoming and friendly, and speak English and Hungarian as well. I had a delicious butter croissant, which I had my heart set on from the beginning, but I easily could have tried any of a number of home-made French cakes, or one of the Auguszt Cukrazda cakes they have on offer. I also had a good big mug of hot chocolate made with 100% cocoa, not this thick pudding-like hot chocolate so many restaurants are offering these days. Cedric is experimenting with making chocolate-filled ecalirs, and gave
us one to try. He thought the chocolate was still a bit runny, but I was quite satisfied with it. La Petite Francaise also sells a number of imported French items, including sweets, chocolates, jams and marmalades, and of
course wine. Oh, and did I mention the place is also smoke-free?
