Concert Review: Marco & Kati

marco & katiWhen I got a call from Marco late Thursday night telling me Kati was very ill and they might have to cancel the concert the next night I was very worried about having to cancel the gig at the last minute. But, Kati was a hero and still managed to revive enough of her lovely voice to power through a few songs for us. Marco & Kati also sang a number of new covers, many of which I had never heard of before. Highlights included Fleetwood Mac's "Lanslide" which always makes me cry, Damien Rice's "Eskimo Friend," Florence and the Machine's "My Boy Builds Coffins," Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog," and of course Marco's virtuoso performance of Jonathan Butler's "Ocean." Cellist Agoston Feher was much more audible this time, and it would be nice to hear more of him in the future. Greg Zeigler was on fire on the cajon, with the usual big shit-eating grin on his face whenever he is playing drums.
