Concert Review: Brian Scoffield

guitarBrian Scoffield held his farewell party at Smiley's on Saturday night by giving us all a country music concert which was worth coming to hear in and of itself. Some of the highlights included the Elvis tunes, Townes van Zandt's "Tecumsah Valley" (I really must listen to more of him), "Standing by the Side of a Casket" by ?, and Brian's own "Storm Across the Valley." If he were not leaving Budapest, I would book him for a gig at Treehugger Dan's.

Set List:
Elvis - Polk Salad Annie (Agi), My baby left me, That's Alright Mama, I forgot to remember to forget
Hank Williams - I don't care if tomorrow never comes, I can't help it if I'm still in love with you, My sweet love ain't around, I know you did your best to love me
Johnny Cash - Rowboat, Fulsom prison blues,
Bob Dylan - Knocking on heaven's door
Townes van Zandt - Tecumsah Valley
Janis Joplin - Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz
Brian - Storm across the valley, Fire bird and stars
Other - Standing by the side of a casket

A hat was passed instead of a ticket fee, and 19000 HUF was collected for the Smiling Hospital Foundation.
