Eurovision Song Contest Final 2011 Party

eurovision 2011The Boys, as we like to call them, put on another great Eurovision Final party on Saturday. It is always the party of the year. While the music was 99% unbearable, Jeroen's cooking, the lethal punch, Lennard's dancing, Chris' bartending and the company more than made up for it. All the food was Dan-friendly this year, including yummy cold pasta salad, chicken mousse, several cakes and pies, and a seaweed and sesame salad. Even after 3 years of this, I was still shocked at the blatant politics involved in the voting. Which is why I need to praise Latvia for seeming to be the only country to vote according to their real opinion and not by politics or geography. I also observed that in general, the countries to make the final also had the worst economies in Europe. Being a bloody hippie at heart, I thought Serbia had the best song, and that Italy, Germany, Hungary and Moldova were not so bad. Moldova's act made me think of Devo on rollerskates.
