Concert Review: Shameless and The Rorschach Band

shamelessI was happy to drag myself out of my sickbed Saturday night and wonder over to one of my favorite watering holes, The Caledonia, to hear Shameless (Jonathan Spinks and Michael Kentish) and guests The Rorschach Band. Rorschach opened the evening with a very tight set of self-penned and 16th-17th century baroque acapella songs. I especially liked their own "Faces," and the covers of The Spice Girls "If You Want to be My Lover" and Hanson's "MMMBop." The band's amazing 4-part harmonies really set them apart.

Illness sent me scrambling home, but not before I enjoyed Shameless' first set. I particularly liked "Stand By Me" (Oasis), "Just Like Heaven" (The Cure), "Ain't No Sunshine" (Bill Withers) and "Chasing Cars" (Snow Patrol). I would have loved to stay for the second half.

Set List:

1. Stand By Me (Oasis)
2. Smile Like You Mean It (The Killers)
3. I Started Something I Couldn't Finish (The Smiths)
4. The Universal (Blur)
5. Just Like Heaven (The Cure)
6. Last Request (Paolo Nutini)
7. Ain't No Sunshine (Bill Withers)
8. Hospital Food (David Gray)
9. Old Red Eyes Is Back (The Beautiful South)
10. Chasing Cars (Snow Patrol)
11. Lucky Man (The Verve)
