Concert Review: Yan Yates (UK)

yan yatesYan Yates' European tour hit Treehugger Dan's last Thursday night. This was the last concert of the summer, starting up again on September 29th with Hybris, and it was nice to finish up on such a high note. Yan's manager found me, and after having a listen, and noticing that one of his main influences has been Townes Van Zandt, I decided he would be great to have play. I was not disappointed, and he put on a very fine show. I did not get the set list, but I believe the songs were all self-penned. An extremely talented singer-song-writer whom we hope to hav back again.

One of my customers gave me the lovely gift of a sourdough starter earlier in the evening, which I now have to learn to use. This also meant that I had to take it with me to the afterparty. A few female Austrian tourists named the sourdough starter Herman for some reason. Apparently there is an Austrian sourdough starter that is famous on youtube or Austrian tv, I never got it straight. We started at Cheers; a small, hot, but very cheap pub on Nagymezo u., then moved on to Instant where we danced downstairs to reaggae music, Herman in hand in a plastic yogurt container. I have never taken a sourdough starter clubbing before. It did not cost me any dough and I hope it gives good bread.
