English Stand Up Comedy Night Review

throw your voiceAfter spending the late afternoon helping my friend Agi put together Ikea cabinets during the last gasp of summer heat wave, it was difficult to motivate myself to get down to Smiley's for Baby Blue Banana's August stand-up comedy show. However, as usual, I was happy I went. Headliner Mark Felgate "is a man with unique talents. His startling abilities as a ventriloquist, combined with a wickedly daft sense of humour, have helped him become a sought after act on the stand-up comedy circuit. Mark is immediately recognisable to parents as one of the most regular faces on Nickelodeon TV." Perhaps it was the acoustics, but the voice throwing was not so evident as performing in funny voices. Does anyone remember those voice throwing contraption ads in the back of comic books  alongside the Charles Atlas and sea monkey ads? I always wondered if those little plastic gadgets worked. More impressive were his song writing and guitar playing talents, which really brought down the house. Agi said it was the first time she has been to a comedy show that she smiled the whole way through a performance.
