Season Opener in the Countryside

Some friends (Neil, Jeanette and Gaby) and I got down to the house last weekend. It was frigid and windy most of the time, but luckily we arrived early enough on Friday to start the fires and take the edge off the cold. I made some green curry (a la Chris Parsons), and later a chicken paprikas type thing on the bogracs for Saturday's dinner. Gaby's mom sent down some delicious langos dough from which Gaby made some yummy langos on the sparhet. Gaby also made some delicious rosmary potatoes to go with the bogracs. Several bottles of wine were demolished, along with a good amount of hazi som-szilva and Iranian fig palinkas. On Saturday we went into town to visit the local managlica farm but it seemed they were closed, so we pulled a sharp left at the end of the road and hiked up a hill for a fantastic view of the village and lake. On the way home we pulled into the 60-os restaurant and had some of the best piping hot pogacsa ever (though Marikaneni's in Perkupa still top the list!).
