Romai Part is Open for Business
I took a lovely bike ride Sunday morning up to Romai part, about 20km each way. Although the forecast was for storms, the weather was perfect. I went as far as the end of the dam, then turned around for a well-deserved beer and a bite to eat. The was a nice little place I wanted to visit again just by the water where I had been on my birthday last year, but passed Fellini and decided I would try somewhere new. Fellini is housed in an old green caravan by the water, and not only offers excellent Belgian beer on tap (though wheat beer is sadly unavailable), a simple grill menu, chilled music, bicycle service, lounge chairs and small tables right by the water, and stone skipping. There are herbs in the window that look out over the Danube. I got a pint of Kriek (cherry beer) and a 4-cheese panini grilled sandwich. If you order food, you receive a painted stone with a number on it - when the flag is raised with your number, your order is ready. The beer was excellent, but 3 of the 4 cheeses seemed to be missing from the sandwich - replaced with sauce. The little fresh side salad was an unexpected nice addition. As soon as my food arrived I got a visit from a nice golden retriever that laid down next to my beach chair and patiently waited for a handout and an ear scratch. The invisible owners must not have to by him/her food all summer.
